✨Sunday crafting with my girl✨
There’s something about getting to the end of the newborn fog, confident in the new rhythms but needing a break from their repetition. Anyone feel me🙋🏼‍♀️ So, crafts. Last weekend it was scrunchies. This weekend it’s macrame. And I’m honestly feeling a bit recharged, however silly that seems. It’s the small things, right? And Maressa says scrunchies are cool again so 💯

Today had several moments that felt like before-we-had-babies moments, when Neil and I used to do the Saturday hustle side by side every weekend. Neil and I did the rental delivery ourselves this morning, and I even tagged along on his catering gig. But the real story is this girl, who’s become Neil’s little sous chef and who knows her way around this truck like I used to✌🏼

When Nash hears Landon cry, he pouts out his bottom lip, says “Bubba” and runs to comfort him. My wild dude is turning into the sweetest big brother 😭😍

✨3 months with Landon✨

While my sister was waiting for me to call her about MY baby’s arrival back in May, she got a call about the arrival of another baby, HER baby, born just 8 days before Landon.
We started our families 12 years apart, and though I always thought it would be fun to raise kids of the same age together, it didn’t seem a possibility. But now, through adoption at different ends of the spectrum, we find ourselves raising teenagers AND babies together at the same time! SUCH.A.GIFT. And this weekend our babies met for the first time!
And now the forever joke is that, while I was 40 weeks pregnant, Betsy, out of nowhere, cut ahead of me in the baby line 😉🤗

Our girl is a senior! It’s her last first day of school, and I’m excited for her. But I’m secretly sad, too, as this starting in the middle thing has only given me a handful of first-day-of-schools, and I’d prefer a few more.

It has been a week of stark contrasts, with this moment being the one that keeps coming back to my mind: my 2-mo old baby in the arms of my 91-yr old granny, the youngest and oldest members of our very big family, one life just beginning and one coming to an end. The grief of saying goodbye in the morning was juxtaposed with the joy of watching Nash splash through a fountain that evening. Tears and laughter.

As I process it more, I see how the natural rhythms of life, the highs and lows, just point me back to the gospel, the ultimate story of contrast: a powerful God in the form of a powerless baby, a death that brings life, the weak made strong, and hope that is born in brokenness.

8-8 It’s been two years since Mo moved in with us and we became family 💚

I remember wondering anxiously how it would go... Would I have any clue how to parent a teenager? Would she feel comfortable with us? Would she like being big sister to a new baby? Would I ever again be able to walk around the house without a bra on? 😜 And I’m sure she had just as many questions.
.
Two years later and I can’t much remember life before her, and I definitely can’t imagine life without her. I’m so thankful we were all willing to jump into life together and become family.

Two months of Landon and these yummy thighs 😍

Living that 7-week postpartum bridesmaid life 👶🏼💄 I woke up with last night’s makeup smudged around my eyes, and I still don’t know what happened to Landon’s other sock, but this was our first photo as a family of five and our first night out all together!
Funny how the benchmark for a successful night has changed so much in the past two years, but this was a good night out by any standard: Nash ran to me across the dance floor when I got to the reception, Neil and I ate dinner together (at the same time!), I got a slow dance with Neil and Landon, and Maressa danced with Neil and I through the very last song. Oh, and one of my favorite people married the love of her life. Great.Night.

When you put off buying a double stroller because you have a wagon and two arms 💪🏽💪🏽
